Blåsemafian & Hazel have qualified from the first semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 this evening in Norway.
Blåsemafian & Hazel have secured their place in the Grand Final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 which will take place on February 20. This evening’s show saw four artists compete for a place in the final through two duels and a ‘Gold Duel’. Competing in the first head to had were:
- Stina Talling – “Elevate”
- Beady Belle – “Playing With Fire”
Competing in the second head to had were:
- Jorn – “Faith Bloody Faith”
- Blåsemafian feat. Hazel – “Let Loose”
The ‘Gold Duel’ was held to determine the act progressing to the final:
- Stina Talling
- Blåsemafian feat. Hazel
Also performing tonight were the two pre-qualified acts, KEiiNO and TIX. KEiiNO represented Norway at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
The results of the show this evening were determined entirely by online voting. The three acts that failed to qualify will go through to the Second Chance show on February 14, where they will compete in a radio broadcast for one more place in the final.
Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
