The seven finalists in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021 have been revealed, as well as their song titles.
Finnish broadcaster YLE has revealed the seven acts that are set to compete in the final of UMK 2021 on February 20. The finalists are:
- Ilta – Kelle mä soitan (Who will I call)
- Laura – Play
- Oskr – Lie
- Teflon Brothers x Pandora – I Love You
- Aksel – Hurt
- Danny – Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua (The day when everyone loves me)
- Blind Channel – Dark Side
Laura represented Estonia at the 2005 and 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, and Aksel was due to represent Finland at the 2020 contest before its cancellation.
The songs that will be competing in the contest will be released at 23:00 CET on Yle Areena, Youtube and all streaming services from January 14 onwards. The dates on which the songs will be revealed are:
- January 14: Oskr
- January 15: Teflon Brothers x Pandora
- January 18: Danny
- January 19: Laura
- January 20: Aksel
- January 21: Blind Channel
- January 22: Ilta
YLE has also revealed that there will be English commentary for the final. In a change to the format, public voting will account for 75% of the overall result and the international juries will count for 25%.
The final of UMK 2021 will take place in the Mediapolis Studios in Tampere on February 20. The winner will go on to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
