The date of artist reveal for UMK 2021 and the song releases have been changed to one week earlier than planned according to Yle schedules.
Yle schedules indicate that the reveal of the artists competing in the final of UMK 2021 has been moved from January 19 to January 13. The press conference to reveal the seven competing acts will take place at 13:00 local time with the names and titles of the competing songs revealed by Yle.
The lyric videos for the songs competing in UMK 2021 will then be revealed daily on YLETV1 at 19:52 followed, by a 3 minute video about the song following straight after. The song reveals will take place on:
- January 14
- January 15
- January 18
- January 19
- January 20
- January 21
- January 22
The final of UMK 2021 will take place in the Mediapolis Studios in Tampere on February 20. The winner will go on to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
