In Germany a total of 370,000 viewers watched on KiKA as the nation made its Junior Eurovision debut.
Junior Eurovision had a strong debut airing in Germany with KiKA recording an audience of 370,000 viewers for the contest which was broadcast live from Warsaw, Poland. At its peak a total of 590,000 viewers were watching the show.
The number of viewers who watched the contest was above average for the time slot for KiKA. For the audience aged between 14 and 49 years old the contest had a share of 2.5% up on the channels normal market share of 1.8%. In its target market share of 3 to 13 years old, 15.9% share was achieved, while 17.8% share was achieved for 10 to 13 years old.
Viewing figures for Junior Eurovision 2020:
- France – 1.2 million – 7.3% share
- Spain – 1.082 million – 7.4% share
- Germany – 370,000 viewers – 2.5% share
Germany finished last on their Junior Eurovision debut. Germany was represented by Susan with the song “Stronger with You” scoring 66 points. Germany was last in the jury vote receiving 27 points, the highest of which was 6 points from France. They also ended last in the online vote with 39 points.

Germany was due to participate in both the 2003 and 2004 contest but later withdrew. Despite this, a German delegation was sent to observe the contest on multiple occasions, including 2013, 2014 and and 2019. NDR also broadcast the 2015 and 2016 contests online. Germany is the last of the Big 5 nations to compete in the contest. Of not as well is that Viki Gabor, winner of Junior Eurovision 2019, was born in Germany.
