The first look at Germany’s debut performance at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest has been released.
Susan is wearing a black jacket, a black top and a black and white patterned dress. There are two trees made out of LED tubes on either side of the stage and several more LED tubes scattered in front of the stage. The background goes through colour changes; first a plain dark blue background before changing to a dark red landscape. It is during this point in the song that shadowy figures appear on the background to perform a dance.
The German delegation opted to record their performance in their home country. The recording of the performance took place at the NDR studios in Hamburg.
Who is Susan?
Susan is a thirteen-year-old singer and will be the first person to represent Germany at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She was selected out of five hopefuls, by a professional jury consisting of producer Martin Haas, vocal coach Michele Huesmann, Levent Geiger, who composed Susan’s song, and Max Mutzke, who represented Germany in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer is no stranger to competitions, having participated in New Wave Junior 2017, Slavianski Bazaar Junior 2018 (alongside Ukraine’s Oleksandr Balabanov), and most recently, The Voice Kids this year as part of Eurovision winner Lena’s team. Her favourite Eurovision song is Ukraine’s 2016 winning song “1944” by Jamala.
