The third artist to feature in our Who Is series for the Junior Eurovision 2020 season is Sofia Feskova from Russia.
Eleven-year-old Sofia Feskova is from St. Petersburg, Russia. The singer is no stranger to competitions, having competed in the Junior New Wave competition and making it to the final. Sofia competed in the Russian Junior Eurovision selection this year, finishing in 1st place, 6 points ahead of runner up Rutger Garecht.
Her song “Moy Novy Den” (My New Day) is about how you should “never give up, keep going, and fill every day with generosity and happiness”.
Russia made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and has participated in the contest every year since. The country won the contest for the first time in 2006 when they were represented by the Tolmachevy Twins with the song “Vesenniy jazz”, who scored a total of 154 points. Russia had never finished outside of the top 10 in their time at the contest until 2019, and have finished second twice, fourth four times, and fifth once. At the 2017 contest in Georgia, Russia won the contest for a second time represented by Polina Bogusevich and “Wings”.
