The Head of Delegation for Italy has stated Rai has still yet to decide on their participation in Junior Eurovision 2020.
Speaking to Eurofestivales, Simona Martorelli has stated that Rai is still discussing whether they will be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. In a statement she said:
Unfortunately Rai has not made his final decision yet, as various elements are being considered in this unprecedented period.
A total of 13 countries have signed up to compete in Junior Eurovision 2020, the lowest number of countries in the contest since the 2013 contest in Kyiv.
The EBU has said that it is open to more broadcasters taking part in the competition. At the start of September, the EBU said that:
can’t give you a specific deadline at this point, but commonsense probably dictates that if additional broadcasters do want to come on board, then we’d like to hear from them sooner rather than later!
The thirteen countries signed up to compete in this years contest are:
- Germany – debuting nation
- Poland – host nation
