Karakat Bashanova will represent Kazakhstan at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw, Poland.
Today the final of the Kazakh selection for Junior Eurovision 2020 took place. Twelve acts took part, with the winner being determined entirely by public voting.
The twelve finalists were:
- Islam Saypollda – Otan – 11.7% – 11th
- Aykerim Tleubek – Winner – 24.2% – 3rd
- Kamılla Kýzdenbaeva – Jeteleidi arman – 14.4% – 6th
- Jan Makim – Brave heart – 14.4% – 6th
- Nurshat Kýsanova – Týǵan jer – 10.7% – 12th
- Sanııa Altynbekqyzy – Ómir beles – 14.1% – 8th
- Mahınur Tursynova – Ulı dalanyń áýeni – 12.7% – 10th
- Aıdana Jumajan – Heal the world – 12.9% – 9th
- Aqjibek Manarbekqyzy – Jer-Ana – 15.5% – 5th
- Adııa Burhanova – Muza – 18.5% – 4th
- Karakat Bashanova – Forever – 25.9% – 1st
- Aıım Mukıtanova – Celebrate – 25.7% – 2nd
Karakat dedicated her performance to her father who passed away five years ago. Following her performance the jury in the venue was in tears. Karakat is 12 years old and from the village of Ryskulov. She has performed in a number of contests including the Voice Kids and local talent competitions.
Kazakhstan first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018, with Daneliya Tuleshova and her song “Ozine sen”. She went on to finish in 6th place. The following year, the country was represented by Yerzhan Maksim with the song “Armanyńnan qalma”, which scored a total of 227 points. Kazakhstan won the jury vote scoring 148 points, but was 5th with the online vote scoring 79 points, and finished in 2nd place overall.
