Kalomira has revealed that she is talking to the Cypriot broadcaster regarding participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
In an interview with Songfestival.be, Kalomira who represented Greece at Eurovision 2008, has said she has discussed the idea of representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2021 with RIK. She explained that:
Yes, it is something we are talking about . You never know. It can be talked about, but it cannot continue. I don’t know if it’s quarantine, but I have to get out of the house. I am in the mood to go to the Eurovision Song Contest! My entourage has contacted the Cypriot broadcaster, so it remains to be seen how everything turns out.
Kalomira said that she had previously considered returning to the contest in 2018, as it would have marked a decade since she finished second in the contest with “Secret Combination”. She added that she had been approached in 2020 about competing for Greece.
According to media reports in the past week Eleni Foureira is currently the favourite to represent Cyprus. The singer is reported to be in discussions about returning for the country with a song written by Alex P.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
