According to STAR the Cypriot public broadcaster has approached Eleni Foureira to represent the nation at Eurovision 2021.
RIK is reported to have formally approached Eleni Foureira to return to the Eurovision Song Contest for Cyprus. The singer who finished second at the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal has been approached by the broadcaster as part of its search for the nations 2021 representative.
Of note is that Eleni is signed to PANIK records who yesterday stated that they would only be proposing artists of Cypriot origin to RIK for Eurovision 2021. According to Star the singer is in discussions with PANIK about the proposal.
Earlier this year Eleni was reported to have been approached by RIK for Eurovision 2021, at the time the broadcaster denied the reports, stating discussions with record labels had not yet commenced.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
