SVT has revealed that a total of 2,747 submissions have been received for Melodifestivalen 2021.
In total 2,747 songs have been submitted to SVT to compete in Melodifestivalen 2021. The number of submissions is up 202 songs on 2020 and is the largest number of submissions received since 2018. Karin Gunnarsson, contest Producer commented:
It is incredibly fun to see an increase in submissions as it shows a great interest in the competition. As a competition producer, I feel like I have got the world’s largest musical candy bag to dive into, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in the next few days.
The acts and the titles of the songs that will be competing in Melodifestivalen are traditionally revealed in late November. The songs will then be revealed during the week before each of the semi-finals.
Julia Alfrida is the first act confirmed as competing in the show. She was selected as the P4 Nästa wildcard by a jury during this past weekend. Julia was one of eight acts to compete in the final of the contest in Västerås .
