Eurovision Fun reports that PANIK records will only be proposing artists of Cypriot origin to represent the nation at Eurovision 2021.
Following reports that MINOS records Katerina Stikoudi and Irini Papadopoulou have been proposed as potential entrants for Cyprus at Eurovision 2021, Eurovision Fun has spoken with PANIK records to understand how they will approach the Cypriot selection process.
According to Eurovision Fun, PANIK is only going to propose artists who have are of Cypriot origin to represent the nation at Eurovision 2021. This would be in line with RIK’s aims of selecting an artist who is well known in Greece and Cyprus, or one who is of Cypriot origin.
As a result Vangelis Kakouriotis who had been early rumored to be interested in representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2021 is out of the running. This opens the doors for artists such as Charis Savva or Ivi Adamou to represent Cyprus in Rotterdam.
For the past three years Cyprus has selected acts who have links to Greece, with Hovig being the last artist of Cypriot origin to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest.
