The European Broadcasting Union has confirmed that additional countries could still compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
Speaking to ESC Plus, the EBU has confirmed that additional countries can still take part in the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The EBU confirmed yesterday that 13 countries will be competing in this years contest, these nations are:
- Germany – debuting nation
- Poland – host nation
The EBU commented that the list of 13 broadcasters:
Isn’t necessarily the final one – indeed, we would welcome other nations coming on board to JESC 2020, up to our maximum of 20 broadcasters.
Adding that while the EBU:
can’t give you a specific deadline at this point, but commonsense probably dictates that if additional broadcasters do want to come on board, then we’d like to hear from them sooner rather than later!
Broadcasters have previously been added to the list of participating nations after the EBU has released the first list of participating nations. In 2019, UA:PBC was added to the list of competing broadcasters one month after the EBU released the list of broadcasters competing in Junior Eurovision.
