Eurovision.de & RTVE report that the performances shown during Junior Eurovision 2020 will be pre-recorded.
The official website for Germany in Eurovision & Junior Eurovision, and the Spanish public broadcaster, report that the performances of the thirteen acts in this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest will all be pre-recorded. This would be the first time that pre-recorded performances have been used at the contest since the qualifying round for the Eurovision Song Contest 1996.
As announced earlier today by the European Broadcasting Union, all of the artists will perform in a studio in their home countries. To ensure continuity and the fairness of the competition, all 13 participating broadcasters have agreed to use a similar stage layout and technical set up to capture the performance of their artist(s).
The specifics regarding exactly how the pre-recorded performances will work have not yet been disclosed by the European Broadcasting Union. In previous years each delegation has had a set amount of time in the run up to the contest to rehearse their performance on the contest stage before the jury rehearsal and live show.
The show will still be presented live from a TV studio in Warsaw, with live interval act performances from Poland also confirmed. Eurovision.de also reports that the voting will see a return to the voting calls across Europe last seen at the contest in 2013. Live calls will be made to the thirteen participating countries from the host venue in Warsaw.
The thirteen countries taking part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Warsaw are:
- Armenia
- Belarus
- France
- Georgia
- Germany – debuting nation
- Kazakhstan
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Poland – host nation
- Russia
- Serbia
- Spain
- Ukraine
