The Junior Eurovision 2020 selection season begins with the first televised selection show of the year.
Germany kicks off the Junior Eurovision selection season this evening with the first show of Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting. While song submissions open and close in Serbia and Finland.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting – Show One – 20:00 CEST
Germany is the first nation to televise its selection process for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Five artists are in the running to represent Germany on their debut in Warsaw, with two songs also vying to be performed on stage in Poland.
The first episode of Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting airs this evening on KiKA. The five singers hoping to win over the jury and represent Germany in Poland are:

- Davit (12)
- Leroy Kay (13)
- Susan (13)

Finland – UMK 2021 – Song Submissions Open
Song submissions open today in Finland for artists wishing to represent the nation at Eurovision 2021.
The rules of the competition state that each singer may submit up to three songs, with composers, lyricists and songwriters able to submit an unlimited number of songs. At least one songwriter or singer must have Finnish citizenship or be a permanent resident in Finland.
The acts competing in UMK will be chosen by an expert panel that will select the singers and songs competing. In the final of UMK 2021 the winner will be determined by a combination of audience and jury voting.
The final of UMK 2021 will take place in February, the song submissions window closes on September 7.
Serbia – Junior Eurovision 2020 – Song Submissions Closes
Serbia today closes its song submissions window for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
After opening the song submissions window six weeks ago, RTS today closes the window for acts wishing to represent Serbia on stage in Warsaw. RTS is expected to internally select the singer and song that will represent Serbia. Serbia last held a televised selection in 2017.
