Ulla Pia who represented Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 has passed away at the age of 75.
Jazz performer and singer Ulla Pia died this past Saturday at the age of 75, the singer who had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year was living in Copenhagen.
Ulla’s career started in the early 1960s when she performed as a vocalist in bands and orchestra. By the mid-1960s she was performing jazz with musician Finn Ziegler who suggested she compete in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Ulla went on to win the contest with “Stop – mens legen er go”.
At the Eurovision Song Contest she finished 14th out of 18 acts at the competition in Luxembourg. She received 4 points, 3 from Finland and 1 from Norway. The performance would go on to be Denmark’s last appearance until 1978. Following Eurovision she shortly after stopped performing.
