Khabar has revealed that a total of 368 submissions have been received so far from singers wishing to represent Kazakhstan at Junior Eurovision 2020.
With two days to go until the submissions window closes for the Kazakh Junior Eurovision selection, the Kazakh broadcaster has revealed that 368 submissions have been received so far. The Kazakh submissions window has been open since August 10. Once the submissions window closes a jury will vote online for the 30 acts they think should progress to the next stage of the competition.
The jury that will select the 30 acts progressing to the next stage are:
- Bagym Mukhitdenova – Music Producer
- Khamit Shangaliyev – Music Producer, Composer and Sound Producer
- Erlan Bekchurin – Producer for Dimash Kudaibergen
- Zhanar Dugalova – Winner of the Turkvision Song Contest 2014
- Amre – Winner of Slavianski Bazaar 2018
- Dinaya – Second Place at New Wave Junior in 2015
- ZaQ – Soloist of the group ‘Ninety One’
- Indira Edulbayeva – Superfinalist in the Voice of Ukraine 2020
- Isa Melikov – Head of Delegation for Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest
After the 30 finalists have been chosen, from August 24 to 31, the public will be able to vote online to select the twelve finalists who will be competing in the televised selection on September 26.
The winner of the Kazakh national final will be selected entirely by public voting, the public will be able to vote by calling or SMS. In the event that two acts receive the exact same number of votes, the jury will determine the winner. Khabar has stated that the format of the national selection and location of the show will be subject to COVID-19.
The country first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018, with Daneliya Tuleshova and her song “Ozine sen”. She went on to finish in 6th place. The following year, Kazakhstan was represented by Yerzhan Maksim with the song “Armanyńnan qalma”, which scored a total of 227 points. Kazakhstan won the jury vote scoring 148 points, but was 5th with the online vote scoring 79 points, and finished in 2nd place overall.
