KiKA is set to broadcast two shows focusing on the auditions to determine the German representative for Junior Eurovision 2020.
KiKA will be broadcasting ‘Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting’ on September 1 and 2. Show one will focus on the first day of auditions where five finalists will be performing for jurors to see which will represent Germany in Warsaw. Show two will show the second day of auditions.
The German entry will be composed by Levent Geiger. Levent was a finalist in the KiKA talent show “Dein Song” in 2015 and 2019. The German broadcaster has not stated when the German act will be announced, however show two of Junior Eurovision Song Contest – das Casting, currently has a description asking who will represent Germany in Warsaw, potentially hinting at a September 2 reveal date.
Germany was due to participate in both the 2003 and 2004 contest but later withdrew. Despite this, a German delegation was sent to observe the contest on multiple occasions, including 2013, 2014 and and 2019. NDR also broadcast the 2015 and 2016 contests online. Germany is the last of the Big 5 nations to compete in the contest. Of not as well is that Viki Gabor, winner of Junior Eurovision 2019, was born in Germany.
