Rajko Dujmić who co-composed “Rock Me”, the winning entry from Eurovision 1989 has died at the age of 65.
Croatian media reports that the singer and composer Rajko Dujmić has passed away today at the age of 65. The performer who was born in Zagreb was best known as a member of the group Novi fosili who represented Yugoslavia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with “Ja sam za ples” finishing 4th in Belgium.
Following his participation in the contest Rajko went on to write the next two songs that represented Yugoslavia at the Eurovision Song Contest. He would go on to write “Mangup” which finished 6th in 1988. The following year he co-composed winning entry “Rock Me” with Stevo Cvikić. The song brought Yugoslavia their only victory in the contest and brought Eurovision to Zagreb in 1990.
Rajko passed away following a traffic accident on July 29. The singer and composer had been in hospital for the past week before succumbing to his injuries.
