MRT the public broadcaster of North Macedonia has confirmed that they will not be participating in Junior Eurovision 2020.
North Macedonia has joined the broadcasters of Australia and Wales in withdrawing from competing in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Warsaw, Poland. MRT informed Eurovoix that the management of the broadcaster opted out of competing due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
At last year’s contest in Gliwice, Poland, the country finished in 6th place with Mila Moskov’s “Fire”. This was their best result since 2008, where they finished 5th. North Macedonia last failed to compete in a Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial issues.
Junior Eurovision 2020
Junior Eurovision 2020 is to be held on November 29 in the Polish capital of Warsaw. The competition is being hosted by the Polish public broadcaster TVP, after Viki Gabor took victory with the song “Superhero”. The show will be staged in a TV studio facility in Warsaw, not a large arena as has been seen in previous years.
To date, the following countries have confirmed participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Poland:
