Spain took part in the contest last year for the first time since 2006, where they finished in 3rd place with Melani Garcia’s “Marte”. The nation had appeared in the first 4 instalments in the contest from 2003-2006, even winning the contest in 2004 with “Antes muerta que sencilla” by María Isabel before taking a long break from 2007-2018. Spain hold a very impressive track record in the contest with Melani retaining the success of the nation finishing top 5 in all 5 of their attempts.
