SRF, the German language public broadcaster of Switzerland, has ruled out participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
Following the announcement of Germany’s debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, SRF of Switzerland was asked by fans on Twitter regarding whether the broadcaster would also be taking part in the contest. SRF replied stating:
This is not currently planned. We want to focus on the original ESC. We are happy to promote young Swiss music talent through our own platforms.
Switzerland has made one appearance in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004, however SRF was not involved in the nations participation. RSI the Italian language broadcaster selected the act and song for the contest, while RTS the French language broadcaster also aired the contest. SRF did not air the contest.
