ERT the Greek public broadcaster has decided against competing in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Eurovision Fun reports that the Greek public broadcaster will not be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year in Warsaw. The nations Head of Delegation confirmed to the outlet that a decision had been taken not to take part in 2020.
Greece last participated in the competition in 2008 and was among the sixteen countries that competed in the first contest, having the honour of opening the show.
Junior Eurovision 2020
Junior Eurovision 2020 is to be held on November 29 in the Polish capital of Warsaw. The competition is being hosted by the Polish public broadcaster TVP, after Viki Gabor took victory with the song “Superhero”. The show will be staged in a TV studio facility in Warsaw, not a large arena as has been seen in previous years.
To date, the following countries have confirmed participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Poland:

- Georgia
- Ireland
- Netherlands
- Poland
- Russia
- Spain
- Ukraine

Greece participated in the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2003, placing 8th with Nicolas Ganopoulos’ “Fili gia panta”. They participated every year up until 2008, their most recent attempt, where they finished in 14th place. Their best entry comes from Alexandros & Kalli in 2005 with their song “Tora einai i seira mas”, finishing in 6th.
