Estonian Eurovision stars are set to look back at 65 years of the Eurovision Song Contest in 12 punkti! Eurovisiooni hitid.
ERR has announced its Eurovision broadcast plans including a 1 hour documentary as part of its coverage next week. 12 punkti! Eurovisiooni hitid will feature past Estonian representatives and songwriters looking back at 65 years of the Eurovision Song Contest, discussing their favourite songs and moments from the contest.
The acts confirmed featuring in the show are:
- Sven Lõhmus – Songwriter for Estonia in 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2017
- Birgit Sarrap – Estonia 2013
- Ott Lepland – Estonia 2012
- Evelin Samuel – Estonia 1999
- Marko Reikop – Commentator for Estonia at Eurovision since 1998
A 30 minute show featuring Uku Suviste, “Lavale loodud. Uku Suviste” will also be broadcast on May 16. The show will see Uku, who was due to represent Estonia in Rotterdam, discuss his musical history, what he’s been up to and his highlights of Eesti Laul.
ERR will be airing Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light under the name Eurovisioon 2020. Särav muusika! live on both ETV and ETV+. Marko Reikop will commentate on ETV, Yuliya Kalenda & Aleksandr Khobotov will commentate on ETV+.
Estonia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside six other countries. At the contest in Dublin they were represented by Silvi Vrait, who finished 2nd last scoring just 2 points. In 2001 Estonia won the Eurovision Song Contest for the only time to date. They were represented by Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL, who performed the song “Everybody” and took a surprise victory in Copenhagen. After the success of the late-90s and early 00s, Estonia failed to qualify for the final from 2004-2008. In 2009 Estonia launched a new selection show, Eesti Laul, and has since qualified for the final six out of ten attempts.
