The Bulgarian broadcaster BNT has announced it will be holding a vote to find the nations Eurovision 2020 winner.
Bulgaria joins a number of broadcasters across Europe holding votes to find its nations winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The broadcaster announced via Twitter today that during the week starting May 11, Bulgarian viewers will be able to vote for their Eurovision 2020 winner.
Voting will take place through the BNT1 app and will remain open during Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light. Voting through the app is completely free. The broadcaster has not announced how it reveal the winner of the Bulgarian vote, or if any additional programming is planned.
Victoria was due to represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with “Tears Getting Sober”. BNT have already confirmed that Victoria will represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
At the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, 17-year-old Kristian Kostov finished in second place in the Grand Final, bringing Bulgaria their best ever result. 2017 saw Bulgaria make only their third final in their Eurovision history, the first being in 2007 when Elitsa & Stoyan finished 5th with the song “Water”. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2005. The country competed annually from 2005 to 2013, before withdrawing for two years due to financial issues.
