North Macedonia has released its entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, “You” by Vasil.
MRT has revealed the North Macedonian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. Vasil is set to perform “You” on stage in the Netherlands. The music is by Nevena Neskoska, a Macedonian composer and producer who was born in the Macedonian city of Ohrid but raised in Chicago. Nevena studied songwriting at Berklee College of Music. Nevena also contributes to the song’s lyrics, along with Kalina Neskoska and Alice Schroeder.
Music producers and arrangers for the song are Nevena Neskoska, Darko Dimitrov and Lazar Cvetkoski. The video was directed by Milena Vitman, recorded and edited by Gjorgi Vacev and produced by Jellmaz Dervishi.
Vasil started his musical journey at age 7, performing at some of North Macedonia’s most popular children’s festivals. Soon thereafter, he moved with his family to the United States, where he continued his career as a soloist at the Chicago Children’s Choir. He continued his musical training in Toronto and Milan.
Vasil returned to North Macedonia in 2018, and launched his own pop career there with three successful singles: “Gjerdan” (Necklace), “Patuvam” (Travelling) and “Mojata Ulica” (My street). He was also a backing singer for Tamara Todevska in last year’s contest in Tel Aviv.
