Athena Manoukian has revealed that filming is underway today for “Chains On You”, her entry for Eurovision 2020.
Armenia is today filming the official music video for their song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Athena Manoukian posted on Instagram that filming started for “Chains On You”, following the revamp of the song was completed.
The revamp of the song took place just over a week ago in Armenia, with Athena returning to the recording studio to polish her winning entry from “Depi Evratesil”. Armenia is one of a number of countries to have revamped its song following its victory in a national selection.
Who is Athena Manoukian?
Athena Manoukian was born on May 22 1994 in Athens, Greece to Armenian parents. Her first experience in the music industry was in 2007, when she came first in “This Is What’s Missing” on Alpha TV Greece. In 2008, she participated in the Greek selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and finished seventh with “To fili tis Afroditis” (Aphrodite’s kiss).
In 2011, Athena released her first single “Party Like a Freak”. The song became one of the biggest hits of the year in Greece and was nominated for two awards at the MAD TV Video Music Awards. In 2012, she released two more singles: “I Surrender” and “Na Les Pos M’agapas” (Say That You Love Me). All three of her singles were certified Gold in Greece.
In 2014, Athena released “XO”. which won Best English Song at the Armenian Pulse Awards 2015. She also wrote “Palia Mou Agapi” (My Old Love) for Helena Paparizou, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.

Armenia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has participated every year since, excluding 2012. Armenia’s best results came in 2008 and 2014 when they finished 4th in the final. They have twice failed to qualify for the final. The first time was in 2011, when Emmy finished in 12th with “Boom Boom”. She was 1 point away from qualifying for the final. In 2019, Srbuk finished 16th in her semi-final with “Walking Out”, bringing Armenia their worst result to date in the contest.
