RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster, has revealed that EMA 2020 was the most watched program in its timeslot across all channels in Slovenia.
An average of 249,600 viewers watched EMA 2020 on Saturday, or 13.2% of the share (27% of all viewers at the time).
The peak number of viewers came at 21.59 CET, when Klemen Slakonja, presenter of EMA, transformed himself into all previous Slovenian Eurovision representatives and performed a medley on their songs to celebrate Slovenia’s 25th Eurovision participation. At that time, the show averaged 18.3% of the total share or an average of 347,000 viewers.
Ana Soklič will be representing Slovenia at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands with ‘Voda’.
Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
