Gazeta Wyborcza reports that TVP has submitted a bid to the European Broadcasting Union to host Junior Eurovision 2020 in Krakow.
Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the Polish public broadcaster has submitted a bid to host Junior Eurovision 2020 in Krakow. Krakow’s President’s Cultural Affairs Representative Rafał Piaskowski stated to the paper that:
Indeed, there was a conversation between the President of TVP and President Jacek Majchrowski and everything seems to indicate that in November 2020 TVP will again be the organiser of Junior Eurovision
The contest is set to be held in the largest indoor arena in Poland, the Tauron Arena according to the report;
I can confirm that the head of Tauron Arena has reserved dates for the organisation of the event, and that in the coming days there will be a producer meeting to specify the details. Following this meeting, the city will negotiate with the organiser to determine the possible forms of cooperation.
TVP has not commented on the reports, but follow comments made by the head of the broadcaster about hosting the 2020 contest during the past weekend. Mr Kurski said to the audience during the final of The Voice Kids Poland that:
The victory of Roksana Węgiel gave us a boost and such power to fight for the organization of Eurovision. We made it in Gliwice. […] Do you want Poland to be the organizer of Eurovision Junior once again? Then I’m getting to work! And you listen to the news of Polish Television over the next few days.
