GPB has revealed that Tornike will be performing ‘Take Me As I Am’ for Georgia at Eurovision 2020.
The title of the Georgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 has been revealed. ‘Take Me As I Am’ is the song that Tornike will be performing for Georgia in Rotterdam. The song is described as ‘mix of classic rock, electro and dubstep’.
GPB has also revealed that three backing singers will be joining Tornike for his Eurovision performance. The three singers are Mariko Lezhava, Mariam Shengelia and Aleko Berdzenishvili.
Tornike won Georgian Idol on New Years Eve and was chosen to represent Georgia at Eurovision. He finished first in the public vote in every live show except Week 1. Tornike won the first edition of X Factor Georgia in 2014.
Georgia used Georgian Idol to select its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest for a second year in a row. This year the show was only used to select the singer that will represent Georgia in Rotterdam.
Georgia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, they were represented by Sopho Khalvashi and the song “Visionary Dream”. Sopho finished 12th in the final scoring 97 points, the song received 12 points from the televoters in Lithuania. Georgia has only ever missed one contest since their debut, this was in 2009 when they had selected Stephane & 3G with “We Don’t Wanna Put In”. The EBU asked for Georgia to rewrite the lyrics of the song or change the song completely.
