A total of 260 applications have been submitted by residents of Rotterdam to host parties and events as part of Eurovision 2020.
NOS reports that a total of 260 applications were received by the authorities in Rotterdam, for events and parties to be held during the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Reinier Weers the co-ordinator of events for Rotterdam commented:
The enthusiasm in the city is palpable and we are very excited about this. We actually expected this because there is a lot of organizational talent in Rotterdam
There is pop-up programming in the city all week long. In the center there is a European Village with all sorts of things to do, with evening-filling shows. It is a party of everyone for everyone and certainly also for the Rotterdammer.
The city is currently assessing all of the 260 applications before each application will receive a response. Mr Weers is positive in the type and variety of events that will be held across Rotterdam during the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 takes place in the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May. The Netherlands won the right to host the competition following their win in 2019 with Duncan Laurence and the song “Arcade”.
