DR has announced that the radio semi-finals for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 will begin next week.
The Danish national broadcaster has announced that the radio semi-finals round of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will commence next week. DR made the announcement as part of a press releasing focusing on Danish music, and the variety of music that can be expected at this years contest.
A jury of nine music professionals have selected nine songs to be played on DR P4 throughout January 2020. The songs will be voted on by the listeners, with the top three advancing to the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.
The three songs selected through the radio semi-final will go on to join seven songs selected by DR to compete in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020. The final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be held on March 7 in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
DR also announced that it will reveal the hosts of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 tomorrow. More details regarding the Semi-Finals are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
Denmark debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 alongside Austria and the United Kingdom. To date Denmark has won the contest on three occasions, the first being in 1963 when Grethe & Jorgen Ingmann performed “Dansevise”. Denmark won the contest again in 2000 represented by the Olsen Brothers, their most recent victory came in 2013 when Emmelie de Forest performed “Only Teardrops”. Denmark failed to qualify for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 and 2016.
