The orchestra is set to make a return to the Eurovision Song Contest, with a symphony orchestra performing during the Grand Final.
AVROTROS is looking for young musicians to perform as part of a symphony orchestra at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The broadcaster has opened the applications process for musicians to apply to be part of the orchestra.
To participate in the orchestra, auditions are set to be held in February for young professional musicians and students. A panel will then select the best to take to the stage in Rotterdam.
The Head of Show commented:
With these auditions we give young Dutch music talent the opportunity to present themselves to the world in a unique way.
We want to show a special performance by a large symphony orchestra what the Netherlands has to offer in this area, so we call on all these young music professionals and students to report to us.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 takes place in the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May. The Netherlands won the right to host the competition following their win in 2019 with Duncan Laurence and the song “Arcade”.

Let’s just hope the orchestra doesn’t back all the competing performances in the Grand Final. 😉
