ERT, the Greek national broadcaster, has confirmed their participation in Eurovision Young Musicians 2020.
Maria Koufopoulou, Head of International Relations for ERT, confirmed Greece’s participation in Eurovision Young Musicians to Eurofestivles.com. The Greek representative for Zagreb will most likely be chosen through an internal selection.
Greece first participated in Eurovision Young Musicians in 1990 and have participated 11 times since then. They have won once in 2008, when clarinet player Dionysios Grammenos made history by becoming the first ever woodwind player to win the competition. Greece returned to the contest in 2018, after having last participated in 2014. They were represented by guitar player Thanos Tzanetakis, who failed to qualify for the final.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2020
The 20th installment of Eurovision Young Musicians will take place next year in the Croatian capital Zagreb. The competition is set to take place on an open-air stage in King Tomislav Square with the grand final on the June 21 2020. This will be the first Eurovision event to be held in an independent Croatia. The Eurovision Song Contest was held in Zagreb in 1990, when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia.
