Tornike Kipiani has won Georgian Idol and will represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam.
After two months of auditions and live shows, the final of Georgian Idol will took place tonight in Tbilisi. The final four artists competed for the chance to represent Georgia in Rotterdam in May. Public voting alone decided the winner.
The results of the final were as follows:
- Tornike Kipiani – Winner
- Barbara Samkharadze
- Mariam Gogiberidze
- Tamar Kakalashvili
Tornike also finished first in the public vote in every live show except Week 1. Tornike won the first edition of X Factor Georgia in 2014.
Georgia used Georgian Idol to select its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest for a second year in a row. This year the show was only used to select the singer that will represent Georgia in Rotterdam. The song that Tornike will perform at Eurovision 2020 will be interally selected at a later date by GPB.
The Georgian Idol judging panel was formed of Natia Todua, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, David Evgenidze and David Aladashvili.
Oto Nemsadze was selected to represent Georgia in Tel Aviv with the song “Sul tsin iare” after winning Georgian Idol. He finished 14th in the first semi-final with 62 points.
