The four artists who will compete to represent Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 have been chosen.
The Semi-Final of Georgian Idol took place this evening in Tbilisi, with the final four artists selected to go through to the Grand Final. Davit Rusadze was the last artists to be eliminated before next weekends Grand Final. The four artists who are in the running to represent Georgia at Eurovision 2020 are:
- Tornike Kipiani
- Barbara Samkharadze
- Mariam Gogiberidze
- Tamar Kakalashvili
Georgia is using Georgian Idol to select its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest for a second year in a row. This year the show will be used to select the singer that will represent Georgia in Rotterdam, while the song will be chosen internally by GPB.
Georgian Idol’s judging panel is formed of Natia Todua, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, David Evgenidze and David Aladashvili.
Oto Nemsadze was selected to represent Georgia in Tel Aviv with the song “Sul tsin iare” after winning Georgian Idol. He finished 14th in the first semi-final with 62 points.
Georgia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, they were represented by Sopho Khalvashi and the song “Visionary Dream”. Sopho finished 12th in the final scoring 97 points, the song received 12 points from the televoters in Lithuania. Georgia has only ever missed one contest since their debut, this was in 2009 when they had selected Stephane & 3G with “We Don’t Wanna Put In”. The EBU asked for Georgia to rewrite the lyrics of the song or change the song completely.
