Jacek Kurski the Head of TVP has hinted in an interview, that the Polish broadcaster may not be supported by the EBU to host Junior Eurovision 2020.
Speaking to Tele Magazyn Mr Kurski has commented on TVP’s plans to bid to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Poland’s victory in Gliwice, made Poland the first back to back winners of the contest, and potentially the first nation to host two contests in a row. Mr Kurski commented:
Of course, we will submit an application, we do not need to prove anything to anyone, everyone believes that we can do the best show in the world, but I think that the EBU decision may be disappointing for many of you.
Mr Kurski believes that the European Broadcasting Union may not support a bid from TVP to host the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It is speculated that some participating broadcasters are not supportive of TVP hosting for a second year.
To date no other broadcaster has formally announced that it is planning to submit a bid to host Junior Eurovision 2020. RTVE the Spanish national broadcaster has stated that it will not be bidding, following its third place finish in Gliwice, Poland.
Viki Gabor won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Superhero”. She scored a total of 278 points, 51 points ahead of second place Kazakhstan. Poland received over 550,000 votes in the online vote, over 200,000 votes ahead of Spain.
