The number of acts who will be competing in Eurovision Song CZ 2020 to represent the Czech Republic in Rotterdam has been reduced.
Ceska Televize has announced that seven acts will be competing in Eurovision Song CZ 2020, down from the previously announced number of eight acts. The Czech broadcaster has not confirmed why the act has withdrawn, however it has been speculated that the withdrawal is due to the selection being changed from televised to online.
The date on which the acts competing in Eurovision Song CZ 2020 has also been delayed. The acts will be announced on January 13, one week later than previously stated. The artist announcement is now expected to take place at the same time as the song reveals, with the voting period previously announced as opening on January 13 and will last until January 26.

The Czech Republic have achieved their two highest places in the last 2 years, with Mikolas Josef coming 6th in Lisbon 2018 with the song “Lie to Me”. One year later in Tel Aviv, Lake Malawi achieved their second best placing with their entry “Friend of a Friend” coming 11th. Before this, their best placing was Gabriela Gunčíková who came 25th in 2016, this was their first appearance in the grand final despite competing 4 times previously.
