Sandro Nicolas has been selected to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam.
Sandro Nicolas was internally selected by CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster, to represent Cyprus in Rotterdam. He had previously been rumoured to be the Cypriot representative by other fan sites.
Sandro Nicolas (Alessandro Rütten) was born in Germany to an American father and Greek mother. He first came to public attention when he auditioned for Das Supertalent in (Germany’s Got Talent) 2015. In 2018, he took part in The Voice of Germany and reached the sing-off stage before being eliminated. This year, he represented his father’s home country, the United States, in New Wave 2019, where he used his stage name Sandro Nicolas for the first time. He finished sixth overall.
Sandro’s entry for Rotterdam will be released at a later date.
At the 2019 contest, Cyprus was represented by internally selected artist Tamta and her song “Replay”. She finished in 13th position in the Grand Final with 109 points.
