The Spanish Head of Delegation has confirmed that RTVE will not be bidding to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
Following reports in the Polish media that Spain was looking at hosting Junior Eurovision 2020, the nations Head of Delegation has stated otherwise. Speaking to Formula TV, Ana Maria Bordas confirmed that the Spanish national broadcaster has no intention of hosting next years Junior Eurovision Song Contest, stating that:
Spain will not bid to host Eurovision Junior 2020. We will do it when we win.
Ms Bordas added that she has been informed by the EBU that TVP has said it wishes to host next years Junior Eurovision Song Contest. With TVP looking into two different cities as potential host cities for next years competition.
Spain managed to achieve 3rd place among the jury with 108 points. This included 12 points from the jury of Italy and Albania. Her total was then topped up with a second place score of 104 points from the online vote. Eventually this landed her in third place with 212 points in total.
Melani was the first artist to represent her country Spain since 2006. The nation had appeared in the first 4 instalments in the contest from 2003-2006, even winning the contest in 2004 with “Antes muerta que sencilla” by María Isabel before taking a long break from 2007-2018. Spain hold a very impressive track record in the contest with Melani retaining the success of the nation finishing top 5 in all 5 of their attempts.
