Ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Eurovoix.com talks to Melani Garcia from Spain, who will sing “Marte”.
You are the first person to represent Spain in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2006. How does it feel to be bringing Spain back to the contest after such a long break?
I feel very proud and happy because to participate at Junior Eurovision is my dream since I am 4 years old. So, dreams can be true.
You found out that you were representing Spain live on television. How was that day for you?
That was an amazing day! I thought it was going to be an interview about my first single, and, suddenly, when I listened to the description of the person… It was me! I could not believe it!
Where did your passion for opera come from?
I asked my parents to sign up for a chorus and, when I listened to the opera by the first time, I fall in love.
Your song is about how we can all make changes to protect the environment. What is one simple thing that everyone can do to make a change?
I believe in the three R: Reduce, recycle and reuse. For example, something very easy is, when you go to the supermarket, never use plastic bag, we have to use paper bags or biodegradables
What are your hobbies apart from singing?
I have a lot of hobbies: I love music and I play the violin; but I love gymnastics too and reading Harry Potter’s books.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Happy, dreamer and hard-working
