Having fallen ill during rehearsals at Junior Eurovision 2019, Denberel Oorzhak is preparing to be discharged from hospital.
RIA Novosti reports that Denberel Oorzhak is set to be discharged from hospital, having been admitted after falling ill during rehearsals yesterday. RIA reports that Denberel passed out during rehearsals yesterday in Gliwice, after which he was taken to hospital to be observed.
In a statement to the news service the Igor Krutoy Academy press service explained:
Denberel Oorzhak’s condition has returned to normal, he’s being prepared for discharge from the Gliwice hospital. Nothing threatens the child’s health. Doctors confirmed that the malaise was due to great excitement. Denberel rested, regained strength and is ready to go on stage in the final of Junior Eurovision 2019.
Who are Tatyana Mezhentseva and Denberel Oorzhak?
Ten year old Tatyana Mezhentseva is from Moscow, and began singing at just 4 years old. Her other hobbies include dance and gymnastics, as well as playing the piano and the flute. Denberel Oorzhak was born in the Republic of Tuva in 2006, and is most well-known for winning the show “You are Super!”, as well as Children’s New Wave. The pair met during the New Wave contest, and went on to enter the Russian Junior Eurovision selection show, where they came out victorious with their song “A Time For Us”.

Russia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and has participated in the contest every year since. Russia won the contest for the first time in 2006 when they were represented by the Tolmachevy Twins with the song “Vesenniy jazz”, who scored a total of 154 points. Russia has never finished outside of the top 10 in their time at the contest, and have finished second twice, fourth four times and fifth once. At the 2017 contest in Georgia, Russia won the contest for a second time represented by Polina Bogusevich and “Wings”.
