Songwriter and singer Lanberry, has revealed the story behind the Polish entry for Junior Eurovision 2019 “Supehero”.
Lanberry who created “Superhero” alongside Patryk Kumór, has revealed how the song came to be the Polish entry for Junior Eurovision 2019. Speaking to Eska.pl, Lanberry explained:
We are always prepared if we write for someone else to make it fit with the singer . We always laugh that it is Patryk Kumór who is the creator who does all the psychological research of a given person and shares such reflections with us.
Regarding the style of they determined:
We came to the conclusion that for Viki the right song would be such a mix of modernity with a light Slavic motif.
The message of the song was also built around current events:
It is known that we went into something that is a burning topic, i.e. ecology. The kids go out into the street and tell us very important things that they will bear the consequence of what is happening today.
Who is Viktoria Gabor?
Wiktoria (Viki) Gabor is twelve years old and was born in Germany, making her the first singer born in the country to take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She was a finalist in the second series of the Voice Kids, and went on to release her debut single “Time” earlier this year. In the lead up to the contest, the singer has been touring across the UK as a support act for Bars and Melody.
Viki was selected to represent Poland after she won the Polish selection show Szansa na Sukces with her song “Superhero”.
Poland was one of sixteen countries to participate in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. After two last place finishes, they withdrew from the contest and did not return until 2016. Roksana Węgiel brought Poland their first victory in the contest in 2018 with “Anyone I Want To Be”.
