UA:PBC has given a sneak peak of the outfit that Sophia Ivanko will be wearing on stage at Junior Eurovision 2019.
The outfit that Sophia Ivanko will perform in next week at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest has been revealed. The outfit which was selected by singer from six designs, was designed by Kateryna Beslyk and Yulia Bilous. Kateryna explained:
We first discussed the idea with Sophia and the director of the production. No one from the beginning was going to make a princess from Sophia. She is a soft girl, but still with character. She has an inner core, an opinion and a worldview. That’s why we chose overalls, not dresses,
Sophia was clear that she did not want to wear a dress on stage at Junior Eurovision:
I can wear a tracksuit, and I can wear a dress. But I can’t stand dresses! Very rarely do I put them on, to be honest.
So the stylists worked on different versions of the costume, and I saw six models to choose from. I think this one was the best. And I also liked the one you chose for the red carpet – it’s cool too!
Who is Sophia Ivanko?
Sophia is 13 years old and comes from Kyiv. This year was her third attempt at representing Ukraine at Junior Eurovision. Last year, she was one of the ten finalists in the Ukrainian selection with the song “Chomu?” (Why?). Earlier this year, she took part in the fifth season of the Ukrainian version of The Voice: Kids, where she was mentored by Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala.
Ukraine debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has competed in the contest ever since. To date Ukraine has only won the competition once.
