Eliana Gomez Blanco has been given a grand send off by her school, ahead of her participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
Eliana was joined at St Joseph’s school in Blata l-Bajda, by her school mates and the whole school, before she leaves for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The 14-year-old singer was the centre of attention, with her Head Teacher giving her a message of good luck, while TVM broadcast live from the school. Eliana explained that she is:
very much looking forward, and prepared to bring honour to my country. We already communicate among ourselves and have become friends in advance, so I’m going there and looking forward to something else; when we meet up, we’re definitely going to be a happy crowd.
Regarding what people can expect from her performance in Poland, she added:
I am certain it will go down well with both Maltese and foreigners, and we will do our best to fine-tune it.
When asked whether there would be a dance routine as part of he performance, she simply said that “it’s a surprise”.
Who is Eliana Gomez Blanco?
Eliana is a fourteen year old singer who prides herself on participating in several international festivals. Last year she was a finalist in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and also won Għanja Tal-Poplu Żgħażagħ in the same year.
Malta debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and has gone on to win the contest twice. In 2013 on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the competition with “The Start”, she was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015 Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia, Bulgaria with the song “Not My Soul”. Malta finished last at the 2005 contest in Belgium with the song “Make It Right” performed by Thea & Friends.
