Sweden’s largest commercial broadcaster TV4, has ended its membership of the European Broadcasting Union.
The EBU has confirmed that Swedish broadcaster TV4, has ended its membership of the union. TV4 joined the European Broadcasting Union in 2004, and had previously been an active participant in a number of Eurovision formats during the 2000s.
TV4 had previously participated in both the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and Eurovision Dance Contest. TV4 participated in Junior Eurovision in 2006, 2007 and 2009. TV4 organised a national selection show for the contest, an showed an interest in hosting the competition in 2008 and 2009.
The broadcaster also participated in the only two editions of the Eurovision Dance Contest which took place. TV4 selected the winners of Let’s Dance in 2007 to compete in the contest, before selecting Danny Saucedo & Jeanette Carlsson who competed in the series in 2008.
TV4 is the third broadcaster in 2019 to have left the European Broadcasting Union. The other broadcasters who have left the EBU this year are MTV3 (Finland) and Cadena COPE (Spain)
