The next artist to feature in our “Who Is” series for the Junior Eurovision 2019 season is Marta Viola from Italy.
Ten year old Marta is from Chieri in Turin, Italy, and is in her last year of primary school. She inherited her love for music, singing and dancing from her parents. Her favourite singer is Beyoncé. She currently studies singing, ballet, hip hop and modern dancing. Her other passions include drawing, make up and hair styling.
Italian broadcaster RAI internally selected Marta in collaboration with l’Antoniano di Bologna. She will sing “La voce della terra” at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, a song written by Franco Fasano and Marco Iardella and composed by Emilio Di Stefano and Fabrizio Palaferri. The song is about the planet and how its voice can be found in everything around us.
Italy debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. Their first and only win to date was on their debut, when Vincenzo Cantiello came in 1st place with 159 points with his song “Tu Primo Grande Amore”. Their worst result was in 2015 when twins Chiara & Martina came 16th with 34 points with their song “Viva”. Since their debut, Italy have participated in every contest.
