Jordan Anthony will represent Australia at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Australian broadcaster ABC has revealed that Jordan Anthony will represent the country in the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Gliwice, Poland. This is the first time that a male singer will represent the country at the contest.
Paul Clark, Australia’s Head of Delegation and Director of Blink TV said, “Jordan inspired us on The Voice, his character and his talent really resonated. This is the perfect opportunity to take his music to a much bigger international stage, where he will be representing Australia for the first time. Go Jordan!”
His song for the contest will be revealed at a later date.
Who is Jordan Anthony?
14 year old Jordan Anthony is from Perth, Australia, and has been singing since he was young. He wrote his first song at 7 years old, and has since gone on to learn the piano and started busking. The singer was the youngest contestant to take part in The Voice of Australia, where he reached the finals this year.
Australia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, the same year as their Eurovision Song Contest debut. The country is yet to win the contest, and their best result was in 2017, when Isabella Clarke performed her song “Speak Up” and received 3rd place with 172 points. They later went on to place 3rd at the 2018 contest with “Champion” by Jael Wena. Australia’s worst result comes from their debut in 2015, when Bella Paige and her song “My Girls” finished in 8th place with 64 points. Australia have been present at every contest since their debut.
