Eliana Gomez Blanco will represent Malta at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Gliwice, Poland.
Maltese broadcaster PBS has revealed that Eliana Gomez Blanco has been chosen to represent the country at Junior Eurovision. The 14 year old singer was chosen out of 12 finalists, who sang for votes from both the public, who made up 50%, and a jury panel, who made up the other 50% of the final outcome. On the jury was Claudia Faniello, Ela Mangion, and Deo Grech.
Second place was awarded to Leah Cauchi, and third place to Martina Cutajar. The song that Eliana will sing at the contest will be revealed at a later date.
Who is Eliana Gomez Blanco?
Eliana is a fourteen year old singer who prides herself on participating in several international festivals. Last year she was a finalist in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and also won Għanja Tal-Poplu Żgħażagħ in the same year.
Malta debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and has gone on to win the contest twice. In 2013 on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the competition with “The Start”, she was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015 Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia, Bulgaria with the song “Not My Soul”. Malta finished last at the 2005 contest in Belgium with the song “Make It Right” performed by Thea & Friends.
