GPB has confirmed that the latest season of Georgian Idol will commence in October, as the nation searches for their next Eurovision entrant.
Georgia’s search for their Eurovision 2020 participant will begin in October, GPB has confirmed. The national broadcaster is currently in the midst of holding auditions across Georgia for the competition, with the first shows airing in October. Upcoming audition dates are:
- August 17 to 18 – Tbilisi
- August 24 – Kutaisi
- August 25 – Batumi
- August 30 to 31 – Tbilisi
The show was first held in 2018/19, and was used to select the Georgian singer and song for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.
Oto Nemsadze was selected to represent Georgia in Tel Aviv with the song โSul tsin iareโ after winning Georgian Idol. He finished 14th in the first semi-final with 62 points.

Georgia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, they were represented by Sopho Khalvashi and the song โVisionary Dreamโ. Sopho finished 12th in the final scoring 97 points, the song received 12 points from the televoters in Lithuania. Georgia has only ever missed one contest since their debut, this was in 2009 when they had selected Stephane & 3G with โWe Donโt Wanna Put Inโ. The EBU asked for Georgia to rewrite the lyrics of the song or change the song completely.
